THE CLEANUP NOTEBOOK
Private property and public streets have different rules.
Start with private-property options
A firm, level driveway or suitable job-site area may be convenient, but ownership alone does not establish that placement is safe. Check surface condition, overhead clearance, vehicle movement, utilities, and delivery-truck approach.
Ask before using a public area
Streets, sidewalks, and rights-of-way may have permit or placement restrictions. Requirements vary by jurisdiction. Contact the relevant city or county before booking public placement and confirm who is responsible for obtaining any approval.
Consider shared and managed properties
An HOA, landlord, commercial property manager, or shared-access agreement may require consent. Preserve emergency access, accessible routes, and fire lanes. Approval from a property manager does not replace any city requirement.
Confirm the exact location
Share placement details and any approved permit conditions with the provider. Do not move the container yourself after delivery. If the planned location becomes unavailable, call to discuss a safe alternative before the truck arrives.
This guide is general information. Accepted materials, weight limits, permits, and rental terms must be checked for your particular project and location.
